Trans Australian Railway

We have produced this special coach to celebrate the centenary of the opening of the Trans Australian Railway in October 1917.
While not a prototypical colour scheme this model makes a great memento of the occasion.

A Guide To Detail Parts

Optional detail parts are included in a parts bag with each model.
We recommend using a small amount of Kristal Klear or superglue to keep them permanently attached.

Airhoses - insert in the hole to the left of the coupler box at either end

Step Covers - Can be fitted in either the up position showing the silver side with handrail for low-level platforms,
or in the down position they are correct for suburban and all other high platforms

Buffers - four oval-shaped buffers are supplied with every model, however to be true to prototype
these should only be fitted to the early coaches with painted arches

Centre Buffer Plates - two different sized buffing plates are included, and are to be inserted in the two holes above the coupler.
The narrow ones are correct for the painted arches and pin stripe versions, whereas in the final years
of operation and for all restored versions (SteamRanger) the wider extra strength ones should be fitted

Lamp Holders - Glue the four small hooks into the two slots at either end of the roof
This is best done as the last step, holding the wagon upside down.
Careful: There are two different ones, the shorter end should be facing up and outwards

1936 Centenary version only - glue the piping strike logo on each side centrally.
On the coaches this is the wider panel between the centre windows.
On the baggage in the middle of the panel immediately next to the loading door

You may also fit the spare brake wheels underneath the door of the buffet car and at the corresponding position on the opposite side.
Because there was no space inside the buffet section the brake had to be fitted underneath.
